Anyone in Lawrence, Lansing, or other parts near there able to post?
We're in southern Johnson County and just got awakened by tornado sirens. According to local TV there's one report of a tornado that touched down in Lawrence, and the storm is rapidly moving northeast from there. Also, there's bad weather farther out there that's expected to continue to move this way all day.

1. They jumped the gun on those sirens. |

It sounds like it could get nasty here later, though. Hope the Lawrence folks are OK. My children are freaking out about the potential danger to their toys if we get a tornado. ;)

2. Oh, dear. Make a game of it and |
|
help them put the toys in the basement?
I've been watching whichever channel it is that Katie Horner is on, and she just arrived about 15 minutes ago. Do like her.
My computer is upstairs, our one TV (yes, we're one TV family, folks!) is downstairs. but since things are fine here, and it looks to be several hours before anything new will sweep in, I'll resume my usual Sunday morning inertia.

3. Half their toys are already down there, so we have a built-in |
|
distraction if we have to take cover. They love rediscovering the things I hide, I mean store, in the basement.

Your kids are still pretty young, right?
When my boys (now 18, actually 19 in 11 more days, and 23) were much younger our unfinished basement was their playroom and most of their toys were down there. It was great.

5. Just got electricity back half an hour ago |

Our neighborhood got hit hard. A house down the block has a huge tree limb on its roof, power line was lying across the street and car windows are broken. There's a huge sycamore tree near New York school that's a goner. A couple of blocks over the streets are impassible because of trees in the street.
We went across town to find food (breakfast buffet) at one of the HyVee's. When were were there we heard about a powerline down on Clinton Parkway that caused a field to catch fire.
The tornado siren came on after whatever it was hit.
