Gore 2008 meetup in Lawrence; 5/31/06

We are having a meetup for Al Gore 2008 at the Lawrence Public Library in the auditorium on Wednesday, May 31 at 7pm. The meeting is open to the public.

Among the issues to be discussed will be Gore’s initiative and upcoming movie on global warming (starting in KC on June 16), and how local Gore supporters can aid the Democratic party in the 2006 elections.

A growing number of people prefer Al Gore for president in 2008. Among the reasons for his popularity:

1. His visionary leadership on climate change throughout his career.

2. His early and vocal opposition to the invasion of Iraq along with his prescient discussion of the dangers to world stability.

3. His visionary leadership on the development of the Internet in the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, which was a major factor in the current state of its expansion.

4. His outspoken criticism of the Bush administration regarding illegal wiretapping and a host of other issues endangering the quality and existence of our republic.

Admiral Poindexter had reared his pointy head once again on that TIAF program or whatever it was, where they were planning to spy on the American people, using postal workers and repair people entering your home. Also, there was some sort of Tailhook scandal at the time, so I decided to "go navy." I used progressive, fuzzy math.

3. Just a reminder for tomorrow night:

A Gore 2008 meeting will be held tomorrow (Wednesday night) in the Lawrence Public Library auditorium at 7pm. 707 Vermont, St., Lawrence, Kansas.

First we will discuss how to get involved in local 2006 races and volunteering to be a precinct captain.

We will be having people from Lawrence, KC and a couple of out-of-towners, so it should be an interesting mix. Some may come just to discuss. Others are already committed to organizing for Gore's movie when it arrives in KC on June 16.

Either way, everyone is invited.
