Wichita Eagle Endorses Morrison |
|
In the Sunday issue of the Wichita Eagle Oct. 22, Attorney General candidate Paul Morrison was "strongly" endorsed by the newspaper editorial staff. Kline's credentials as a trial lawyer "can't touch" Morrisons. Just as important, the Eagle noted Kline's "lapses of judgment and questionable priorities".

2. Difficult to Say Objectively |
|
I'm sure you realize that it is very difficult to evaluate campaigns with any objectivity, but I am optomistic that the Governor will win Sedgwick County, as will Paul Morrison. Carla Stovall has made Wichita her home, and Bob Stephan began his political career as a district court judge here. Their recent opposition to Kline should carry significant weight with R mods and Indep. voters. I think we will certainly hold the House seats we have right now, but we could pick up 2 or 3 seats from incumbents. We have 3 House races where our challenger candidates are funded well-enough, or indeed well-funded, and I think we could win all 3. But I say that based solely on demographics, energy and hard work being put into the races, and funding. I have no polling data. It is perhaps significant that Amers. for Prosp. have devoted resources to 2 of these 3 races, and against one D incumbent.
All we can do is continue executing our field plan, not make mistakes, and hope for good weather.
