What is wrong with Johnson County? |
|
The only Democrats who won for the Kansas State House were the unopposed Sue Storm, and Cindy Neighbor (former Republican) who had formerly defeated the extremely conservative Mary Pilcher Cook. Every single other Democrat lost! WTF?

1. I was just about to ask the same thing! It looks like we're stuck |

with another butt-headed state legislature for awhile... :banghead: I do not understand how so many can vote Dem in state-wide races, but then vote R for the state legislature. It seems so contradictory.
Gene's race was especially maddening. So close!

That was a first and won't be the last time we have a full slate of Dem candidates.

3. Sedgwick Cty Defeated two Neo-cons |
|
I am happy to report that two Republican neo-cons - Bonnie Huy and Willa DeCastro - were defeated by Democratic challengers in Wichita. In addition, the Republican in Sumner Cty - just south of here (Bill McCreary) was also defeated. We were hoping for one or two more defeats of incumbent Rs, but are happy that our victors (Raj Goyle and Terry McLachlan) will establish a more moderate and Democratic Kansas House. Also, all eight of our incumbent Dems were re-elected with Judy Loganbill - who had been targeted by Americans For Prosperity - won by 600 votes - and enjoyed her largest margin of victory of her career.

I don't know enough about the state reps outside of Johnson County to have spotted that, so thank you.
Maybe we can elect a new Democratic state senator or two in 2008.
