| Jim Ryun's concession speech. |
|
I've been trying to find a video of his "concession without conceeding" speech, but I cannot find one anywhere. I've been triyng since after Nancy won. If any of you have a link or whatnot of it I' really appreciate it. I think I've just about exhausted my resources.
Plus, I want to see the look on his face since the newspaper described him as beind dazes. He was so unbelievably rude during the debate at the Leavenworth City Hall. Just laughing and making noises and faces silently to himself while she spoke.

Jeremy, I would like to see the video also. The blurb in LJWorld.com was strange to say the least:
"Ryun, a conservative Republican and devout Christian, appeared dazed in his concession speech shortly before 11 p.m.
“I still think we have the right values,” he said, shortly before thanking his staff and turning the microphone over to his wife, Ann, who praised God.
“To God be the glory for the great things he has done,” she said, smiling. “We are people of faith.”
Minutes later, Ryun, his family and staff left the stage, declining to meet with reporters."
In another article Ryun states: “We’re just waiting on the Lord for the next orders that come,”
Hmmm, just wondering how Jim gets his orders from above. I hope he's not hearing voices. ya know?

| 2. I did find a sem-video of it. |
|
It had people talking over it and all it showed was him, his family, and perhaps some of his staff walking on. It ended before he started talking, not that you could have heard him with those people talking over it.
I really want to find a copy of that video but I think I'm SOL.

Here's the link. It's pretty short but it was the only one I could find. http://www.ksnt.com/news/4589976.htmlimho, for someone who was an athlete he certainly came up short when it came to good sportsmanship, both during the campaign and with his concession speech.

| 6. I did not notice that at the debate |
|
I wasn't watching him when Nancy spoke. I was busy taking notes, although I ended up writing more about what he said. Being rude could not have helped him though because people would notice that on TV and it was supposed to be broadcast 3 times.
Welcome to DU. :hi:

Do you live in Leavenworth? We could very well know one another. I was the kid in the very front with the Nancy For Congress T-shirt on.
That place was half mortifying. There were like a million+1 Ryun supporters there, all with their little stickers, the guy behind me had stickered his babies. Gives me the willies for some reason... There must have been like 5 Boyda supporters and her staff. Makes me kinda giggle thinking of it!

but the chair and vice chair of the Democrats were on my left. So I did not feel alone.
I think I know who you are - the guy who asked Nancy about 'don't ask-don't tell'. Whereas I am the mostly inadequate communications committee chair who is right now, at this very moment, not working on our website which still needs to be updated. Are you, by any chance, web-savvy, and also, do you have local High School connections. I recently learned the school has no young Democrats club, and it takes a student to start one.

I wanted to ask you today if that was you, but I figured I might as well not incase you looked at me funny! Yeah, I ambushed her on that. I'm holding Nancy to it also, she better fall through.
I'm not webpage creator material at all to be honest, it's something I could never really grasp. The html, the code, etc. I won't be in KCKCC past this semester so a Young Dems club would not be the best thing for me to start. I also attend the local campus here in town and not the main campus, which would be the ideal place to go to to start an organization like that. I believe Leavenworth High School has a young dems club, or it at least did. I know Nancy went and spoke to them during her 2004 run.
See you around no doubt.

said they don't have a YD club. All we need are names of Democrats who are currently attending LHS and they would start it, and hopefully find a teacher to sponsor too.

There's really not many active democrats at Lansing High School, certainly not enough for a club and people that I would hands down say wouldn't be interested in taking the responsibility for a school club. I never went to Leavenworth High School so I got no clue there. :\

he blamed Boyda and the media for relentless attacks on him and for spreading lies, and said that too many in his base thought he would be re-elected easily so they didn't show up.

Boyda had hardly any media support and her commericals must have played on TV a dismal number of times.
Sour grapes.

| 16. Actually, there was one or two. |
|
One had people that she had interviewed talking about Jim Ryun's qualities, or lack thereof. You can view it on youtube. There was a DCCC attack ad released about 4-5 days before the election. I've seen it online but never saw it on TV. But to be honest I dont't watch local news and watch specific shows in the weeknight so my viewing schedule may have just secluded me from it all
