1. I saw that sign while driving with my 3 much older, much more conservative sisters. |

One opined that people didn't understand that impeachment wasn't just something the nation could do just because it was mad at a president. I said that, yes, laws had to be broken, and she said that none had been. I protested and said quite a few had been. She protested and said she knew that arguments for impeachment were stupid because she'd read LTTEs written by pro-impeachment people, and they didn't make any sense. I countered that LTTEs were not a good source of information, and asked where she liked to get her news. She said she read the front page, sometimes the FYI section, and the comics. My other two sisters piped up and agreed that the front page and the comics was just fine. I told them they were missing a huge amount of information by doing that, and should branch out more. But they are contented knowing what little they know, as long as it doesn't conflict with what they already believe. That's the mindset that's so hard for progressives to break through around here.
</self-serving tangent>
I'm still encouraged that the sign is up there!

2. The Star did a front page story on this sign |
|
and interviewed both of our area congressmen. Of course, they oppose impeachment.

3. Overall, the public is |

way ahead of the Congress when it comes to impeachment. I was at the Take Back America conference last month (as were several others who post here) and Nancy Pelosi could barely speak for the vocal demands for impeachment.
I am completely convinced that in a very short time Bush will be cited everywhere as the Worst President Ever.
I was on vacation and traveling for two weeks and largely cut off from news, and I'm completely baffled that Gonzales hasn't resigned or been asked to resign yet. I'm almost as puzzled that Bush is still in office, along with Cheney. Apparently nothing at all happened on the political front. Makes me suspect that our Congress, rather like the one in Iraq, is on vacation, and that the hearings were actually taped several weeks ago.
