First Lady Laura Bush’s visit to Kansas on Tuesday raised an estimated $200,000 for Sen. Pat Roberts, his campaign said.
More than 400 supporters turned out for a fundraising event in Overland Park.
“I am pleased Mrs. Bush chose to visit Overland Park and am overwhelmed by the large response we have received for this event,” Roberts said. “The support from Kansans for my re-election campaign has been outstanding, and this event was no exception.”
Bush addressed a luncheon crowd at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel.
Earlier in the day, she visited Rolling Ridge Elementary School in Olathe, where she stressed the importance of reading.
Roberts is seeking his third term in the Senate.
