Join hundreds of your Kansas City and Lawrence neighbors this week at events calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and an end to the killing- see below for event details.
Working together here in the KC/Lawrence area is crucial to support a new direction than what the Bush administration and Israeli government policy has been following for years. A new direction calls for an end to occupation in Palestine and Iraq and for serious negotiations. Now is the time to let people know we stand with the occupied and oppressed in the Palestinian territories - they need our support.
Despite an oppressive occupation that restricts Palestinians' daily movement to work, schools, and farms. Despite a maze of settlements, segregated roads, barriers, and walls - all within Palestinian territory, between Palestinian towns and villages. Despite violent attacks by the Israeli military, Palestinians conduct weekly protests in Bi'lin against the building of the wall deep inside the West Bank. Despite persistent checkpoints Palestinian educators and parents pursue a peace and democracy curriculum at Hope Flowers School in Bethlehem - a school that Kansas Citians raised $10,000 for in 2007. Despite living in prison-like conditions, Palestinians in Gaza are looking for help to end the attacks.
Despite sadness and frustration with these tragic events, join the demonstrations and work with your neighbors for a ceasefire and a just peace!
