4. 2000 presidential results |
|
Bell County Gore 45.1% 4,787 Bush 52.6% 5,585 Nader 1.0% 102 Other 1.3% 137
Harlan County Gore 50.9% 5,365 Bush 47.3% 4,980 Nader 1.0% 110 Other 0.8% 80
From what I gather this year will be dfferent. Alot of people tired of Bush in both counties.

6. I don't think our repuke governor is going to help * much. |
|
And I don't think all that Frankfort fundie crap is playing well, at least here in Louisville.
We came so close to getting rid of Northrup...Conway was great (pretty tasty too).

I here Jerry is one of the most popular politicians in Louisville, so Im wondering if he could take out Northrup should he decided to go to Congress?

Abramson doesn't really seem like the Congressman type (of course maybe that is just because I'm used to him being mayor for almost all of these years), but I do think Tony Miller seriously has a shot at beating Northup this fall. I mean if Jack Conway almost beat Northup in 2002, certainly a well-known and more widely respected politician can beat Northup. Now Miller isn't the best politician ever, but it would be a bright and positive start if he were to win this fall.

There are many good Democrats around here, well, not quite as many as I'd like to see, but many. Marzian is actually my representative by the way. You are right, she would make a great congresswoman. Also, Tina Ward-Pugh (a city council representative, I used to live in her district) would make a great congresswoman (or mayor or something that is more meaningful than city councilwoman) someday. Or maybe it is just that I really like her politics--I don't know.

17. I've known Mary Lou for a long time. |
|
We are related.
You guys use Diebold voting machines there. Contact Mary Lou and ask her about that. Direct her to the BBV site, and have her discuss the issue with Scorsone. I have worked with him on the issue. He helped me through the process of obtaining info on the voting machines used. Mary and Ernesto know and respect each other.
There should be a Kerry meetup in Louisville this Thursday. If you can make it to yours, do it.

Hi. I live in Louisville, KY. I have been amazed at the number of Republicans who have told me that they will not vote for Bush. I hope Senator Kerry picks John Edwards to be his VP so that we can move Kentucky into the Blue state column! We have a lot of excited Democrats here in Louisville that are hoping to see Kerry & Edwards on the campaign trail. I saw Kerry when he came to Louisville and I let him know that I hope he selects Edwards.

I live in Whitley County down near Emlyn part of the year. I grew up in Middlesboro and then lived in Lily (Laurel County) for a bit. It's great to see so many people from Bell County. I can remember a cranky group out that way from my childhood whose pro-union and pro civil rights approach helped shape my current thought. There are quite a few gay people in that neck of the woods as well. I was surprised to see several southeastern Kentucky gay writers at the Kentucky Book Fair in Frankfort a couple of years ago.

Loved Louisville! N.Ky. was waaaay too conservative (more like Cincinnati) for me, although I still love the area. I moved to Jackson, MS for a job 1 1/2 yrs ago, but we still own a residence there in Ft. Mitchell.
I voted absentee in N.Ky. -- for Kerry and Dr. Dan. Gotta get rid of wacko Bunning!!
