New Web site helps users compare Kentucky hospitals

The Kentucky Hospital Association, whose membership includes all Kentucky hospitals, has launched a Web site to help patients research hospital quality.

The site features statistics for hospitals? treatment of pneumonia, heart attack, cardiovascular procedures, heart failure, childbirth and surgery.

The information includes mortality rates for and frequencies of surgical procedures at each hospital.

If a hospital has a statistically significant rate of risk as compared with the national average, it will be highlighted in the report.
