Jonathan Miller named head of Democratic Pary

FRANKFORT, Ky. --
State Treasurer Jonathan Miller was named the chairman of the state's Democratic Party on Thursday.
Miller will replace outgoing chairman Jerry Lundergan, who had served as the head of the party since January 2005. Miller was recommended for the job by Democratic gubernatorial nominee Steve Beshear, who emerged from a six-candidate field to win last week's primary.

Miller is finishing up his second term as state treasurer. Miller put together a gubernatorial bid, but abandoned the campaign in early May and put his support behind Beshear, who will face incumbent Gov. Ernie Fletcher in the general election
