Can someone explain how KDP spent millions last year (most of it from the DNC)

to help Beshear get elected governor in a situation where everyone in this state knew that Fletcher was going to lose. While I enjoyed seeing Fletcher get soundly thrashed, it seemed to me a huge waste of money given what we're up against this year. I know that paid canvassers last year, knocked on the same doors multiple times. It was overkill.
That money could have been used against McCain & McConnell in this state and it would have made a difference. I just don't get it.
