http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20081124/ZONE07/81124024The median price of homes sold by members of the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors fell to $130,000 in October, a 5 percent decline from a year earlier.
The weak performance continued a downward trend of the last several months, and pushed the area’s year-to-date median price decline to 3.6 percent — the worst local showing in years, but still better than the national average.
Realtors working mostly in Jefferson, Bullitt and Oldham counties have sold 22 percent fewer homes through October compared to the same period in 2007. Sales typically slow in the winter months, and heat up again in the spring.
Members of the Southern Indiana Realtors Association have sold 26 percent fewer homes so far this year compared to 2007. The median price in Southern Indiana was $119,000 for the first 10 months of the year, down 4.5 percent from a year earlier.
We've always managed to buck national downturns but this one is unavoidable.
