FRANKFORT, Ky. --A grand jury investigating alleged political hiring and firing by Republican Gov. Ernie Fletcher's administration indicted three officials on misdemeanor charges -- including the governor's deputy chief of staff.

It was the second time in less than a month the same grand jury indicted administration officials.

Indicted Wednesday were Dick Murgatroyd, Fletcher's deputy chief of staff and former deputy secretary of the Transportation Cabinet, as well as transportation officials Dan Druen and Cory Meadows.

Druen was one of three officials indicted June 14 by the same grand jury.
