FRANKFORT, Ky. -- State Republican leaders declined yesterday to ask party Chairman Darrell Brock to resign, despite Gov. Ernie Fletcher's request to remove him.
The state GOP Executive Committee gave Brock "essentially a vote of confidence" in its 30-minute closed-door meeting at party headquarters in Frankfort, said party spokeswoman Jessica Ditto.
.....
Brock was among nine current and former Fletcher administration officials who were indicted by a special grand jury on charges of violating a law shielding rank-and-file state workers from politics.
Fletcher pardoned the nine on Aug. 29, but on Wednesday he asked for the resignations of four of those he had pardoned and five other officials.
