Oh, it was a love affair made in a Republican heaven.

You could even say the Republican U.S. senator and unofficial state party leader had a right to preen over Fletcher at the inauguration like a peacock who has claimed his prize.

There is hardly a photograph of Fletcher on election night or at his inauguration without McConnell in the frame.

Oh but love can be fickle and fleeting.

If he answers reporters' questions about the hiring controversy at all, he merely refers to the excellent job "the governor" is doing. Lately, "no comment" has been the response. He doesn't seem to make it to the same events as Fletcher.
