What can we pick up in 2006? |

I know that our statewide elections are held on the off years so we don't have to worry about those right now. Any chance that we could take back House seats for the 5th and the 7th districts, especially on the issue of social security?

If the Dems are worried about Diebold coming in and stealing votes, they can make laws requiring accountability.

4. The Democratic Party has to get its act together first |
|
The Rodney Alexander flipping episode should have never been allowed to happen. Alexander should have been dead meat...but the Democrats never attacked him hard enough after his flip. Aside from the fact that they never really supported Tisa Blakes after they found themselves with no candidate for that district. We might have a chance with Boustany, but the Dems will have to run somebody like Don Cravins against him....not another Willie Mount. And for the love of God, we need somebody to organize the rural African American vote in order for either of these seats to switch back to Democrats. Also, IMHO, in order for Charlie Melancon to win again in the 3rd he needs a huge turnout in the black community. The Republicans are pissed that "Little Billy" didn't win last time, and Tauzin's already stated that he will be back to run again next time.

IF IF IF the Democratic Party would support a fiscally conservative Democrat in the 1st district they might be able to pull something off (at least get peoples attention)
I understand that generally you like to support people that have more in common with you than not.. however in cases like the 1st district a fiscally conservative democrat who can make strong arguments against Jindal's proposals could at least make some noise.
