in New Orleans has a top-notch pharmaceutical school; I don't know about their pharmacy research. LSU Vet School is one of the best in the nation (Number 2, I think?), although, from what I understand, they prefer LSU undergrads for that program. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Biomed and/or Pharm:
Tulane (wayyyyy overpriced) Emory (overpriced) U. of Alabama, Birmingham Baylor U. of Florida, Gainesville UNC, Chapel Hill
This list is based on the assumption you intend to stay in the southeast.
Bear in mind, you will receive a stipend for any grad program in the biological sciences. The stipend will cover living expenses for just about anywhere except the far northeast (Boston and New York), and the west coast (LA and SF; San Diego is/was still managable).
