what's this homeowner's exemption deal? |
|
Here's a link: http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/metro/index.ssf?/base/news-5/109816902565610.xmlIf this fails to pass, does this mean that they plan to remove the homeowner's exemption for unmarried (including gay) homeowners?

1. Vote for Ammendment #2 |
|
Currently, assessors have been giving the homestead exeptions to unmarried couples and widows that co-own their homes with their children. There is no basis for them to do this in the law.
If the ammendment does not pass, they could be required to follow the strict definition of "persons" as definied in the Homestead exemption law. Which would cause an undue burden on many homeowners.
Tell everyone you know to vote for it.

This affects many people I know personally, unmarried couples and at least one (maybe two) widows with children.
