ISLE AU HAUT (Oct 25): A former School Union 76 board member made an initial appearance in Sixth District Court on Wednesday on charges of possession of sexually explicit materials and violation of privacy.
Jon R. Hughes, 46, of Isle au Haut was in court Wednesday for his initial appearance and for a bail hearing on the charges, according to District Attorney Geoffrey Rushlau on Wednesday.
Maine State Police arrested the former school board member Tuesday for allegedly possessing hundreds of pornographic images depicting children, some showing children perhaps as young as 4 years old, according to an affidavit filed in court by state police Detective Laurie Northrup.
Hughes is also accused of videotaping a teenager, who unknowingly was being filmed via a hidden camera disguised as a radio in a private bathroom, according to court documents.
