Bring them on. we need new methods of energy in this state. ones that are pollution free and fossil fuel free. I hear the whining and the yuppie comments in threads others post. here's my answer. from 1953- 1988 I LAID OUT military bases, shopping centers housing projects and highways. the military ruined thousands of acres of potato fields that will never produce again in aroostook county. nike sites, bomac sites, polluted the air and ground with fuel. you talk noise pollution,a b-47 or b-36 definitely qualifies. I was staying in andrews rooming house in caribou the winter 1954-1955 so i've seen the weather records shattered. I've shot polaris for the national grid at 20 below zero at night in a potato field overlooking presque isle and limestone (later changed to loring) afb's. laid a bomac missile site out in a potato field,a nike site in ashland in a seed potato farm. my answer to you nay sayers is whats your alternative. certainly not dams with no fish ways. certainly not nuclear with no way to dispose of the spent fuel rods. certainly not more fossil fuel sites when we know the supply is limited. certainly not to import what we can produce here in maine. we will need all types of new energy sites. solar,bio-fuel,wind and tidal power are all in the future. and they will improve over time. like every other invention since the wheel man has improved on the original design.
