Mainers income versus fuel costs |
|
Using google to research the average Maine family income gives a wide choice, from $42,000 in Augusta to a high of $64,000. the average family puts 13,000 miles on their vehicle yearly. much of it non-highway miles therefore decreasing average miles per gallon of fuel used. so if you used 17mpg for an average you would use 765 gallons of fuel or at $4.00 per gallon $3060 dollars worth.(this is being conservative) the average family buys 1000 gallons of fuel per year. the est. cost next winter is $5.00 per gallon. that is $5000 per year.(thats being conservative) this cost has doubled or more since 2004; wages have increased little to none. this spells disaster to our future. this should be one of the driving forces in the campaign this fall. the candidate that addresses this best will win.
