Considering that Susie is the state co-chair of the McCain campaign in Maine, one would think her opinion would carry significant weight with the national campaign. However, when questioned about Collins' stated opposition to the robocalls being used to slime Obama, both Rick Davis and John McCain blew her off.
If her opposition to the dirty tactics is genuine, why is she still serving as the campaign co-chair? She should put her money where her mouth is and resign her post with the McCain campaign to send a clear signal to the people of Maine that these tactics are reprehensible and cannot be condoned. Anything less is tacit approval of the McCain campaign's sleazy behavior and should be a sign to voters that Collins supports the win-at-all-costs mentality of the national campaign.
