| 1. Funny thing is we're buying a house, so we're torn. |
|
Frankly, we'd LOVE the credit to go up to 15,000.
Be nice to get something back from Uncle Sam for once in our lives.

| 2. you know that "credit" has to be paid back, right? |
|
I too am hoping to buy a house sometime this spring or summer and would be happy with the $7500--but I would also have to pay $500 extra in taxes for 15 years to pay it back. I'm guessing that the $15K will work the same way, but the payment would be $1000 extra per year (I'm guessing).
My beef with Collins now is her wanting to gut the money for education from the stimulus pkg. I hate that stinking woman with a passion. ALL republicans are greedy, self-centered hogs who are bought and paid for by big business. Even here in Maine, where a huge proportion of the population is barely hanging on, all these scumbags can think about is tax breaks for the rich. I include Snowe in that, too. I don't give a F*** if she's "moderate," she's still an effing republican douchebag.

| 4. Actually, if enacted the 15k credit is free. One need never pay it back. |

| 7. Oh, and the $15,000 is not refundable |
|
So it's really only worth whatever your tax burden will be. Most people don't even have a $7500 tax burden, which is why the $7500 refundable is better, with the waiver on paying it back for a few years.

We need JOBS (meaning spending) not more damn tax cuts! We've had 30 years experience with this approach and look where it's gotten us! Collins (with her somewhat right-leaning proclivities) especially needs to get this message!

What can we do to get Maine to put pressure on their Senators. Any groups organizing up there?
