My husband is a Cutler supporter. I have always favored Mitchell, mostly because I think she can win. But we have no intention of canceling out our votes, so we have agreed that we will vote for whichever of the two is ahead at the last. Unless Cutler has some amazing surge right now, we will both be voting for Libby Mitchell. Who cares which of the two gets votes if LaPage wins? The only thing that matters at this point is that HE LOSE!

2. LePage signs everywhere in upper state ME |
|
I am going to sit this election out. Mitchell was endorsed by bill clinton. LePage is crazy.Cutler supports wind farms. I live near one...they are the personification of corruption. Will ruin tourism and the fishing industry. The corporation that is all over upper state ME , First Wind, states in their SEC report that their power purchase agreements with foreign countries do not require them to produce electricity. They are dealing with Canada. It is all in the renewable carbon credits that are bought and sold and hedged on Wall Street. Our electricity rates go up for nothing ....driving small businesses out of the state.

3. So you won't vote for Mitchell because she is endorsed by Clinton? |
|
Is that it? Serious question. If you have other reasons, you so far have not presented them here, that I've seen. We get it... you don't like Clinton. But if Mitchell wins, it'll be she who governs this state, not Clinton.

4. Mitchell also is pro wind farm |
|
Because I have one practically in my back yard..and have researched the whole wind energy / cap and trade debacle extensively..that is another factor in my not voting for Libby.
Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA/ three strikes and you are out ..resulting in the US having the largest prison population in the world...welfare reform with no jobs for welfare moms to go to..Fairness Doctrine and the repeal of Glass-Stegall. So when clinton likes a candidate it does not bode well with me.

5. So how is not voting an answer? |
|
None of that matters if you don't even vote. Then you're just a complainer. Keep in mind, anyone who doesn't bother to vote, is not allowed to complain any more--about anything.

10. Libby Mitchell has nothing to do with NAFTA/3 strikes/fairness doctrine/etc |
|
She was not my first choice in the primary, but in a race with her vs. LePage, it's a every easy choice for me.

9. Heaven forbid the US or the State of Maine actually EXPORT energy to Canada or other states |
|
It's not allowed
We can only IMPORT hydroelectricity from Quebec, natural gas from western Canada, Middle East LNG off-loaded in New Bruswick and uranium from foreign countries.
Can't produce energy here in Maine
nope
can't

6. Consider the alternative - LePage |

I fear for Maine under a Governor LePage. Polls are bogus. Libby is the best hope for Mainers; not Cutler, who took jobs from Maine and gave them to China.

I'm hearing from a lot of both Dems and moderate Republicans that they're moving toward Cutler. Especially after endorsements from all the major Maine newspapers.

Latest poll I saw put Mitchell and Cutler neck and neck. It is turning into a nail-biter. I think Cutler will pull in all those undecideds. I know one thing: even the Republicans who hate LePage will never vote for Mitchell.

I can't vote for Mitchell. Not after that xenophobic, offensive campaign. I am a dyed in the wool Democrat. I am voting straight Democratic ticket for every other office.
I despise LePage. But I just can't bring myself to vote for Mitchell, after that uncalled-for, racist attack on Cutler.

and they're using it as a symbol of "those evil Chinese" who will come to take away Maine jobs. It's the most desperate and offensive attack I've seen in a long, long time in this state. And what hurts is that it came from my own party -- and Mitchell has said nothing to distance herself from it.
Imagine if the mailing had had a photo of a yarmulke and said "Cutler supports Israel." Or if the mailing had a photo of a taco and said "Cutler supports Mexico." You can bet that Hispanics and Jews would be up in arms.

27. I have no idea what they were thinking. |
|
It was truly a mistake on their part. It almost seems as if they've turned into the GOP with this hate-filled campaign. It has turned off so many loyal Dems, who have told me they are all turning to Cutler now.
Just imagine if they'd sent out a mailing with a picture of a Manischewtiz bottle and said something like, "Cutler's worked for Israel. Now we'll all have to learn Hebrew!!" That's how distasteful it would seem. But since Asian Americans are such a small minority, well, it's okay to slam them.

The State Democratic Campaign Committee did. She has no control over what they do. From your own link... Sure, the fliers came not from Democratic hopeful Libby Mitchell's campaign, but from state party operatives who by law must maintain an arms-length relationship with the candidate.http://www.pressherald.com/news/democrats-negative-ads-draw-fire-from-___-democrats_2010-10-29.html

19. The Circular Firing Squad Is Alive and Well Again in Maine |
|
Cutler won't get enough. Mitchell won't get enough. LePage will win by default and will declare it's the most sweeping mandate EVER!. If you don't like windfarms, honey, you are going to have all kinds of crap parked in your backyard from corporations who want a sweet, cheap deal here in Maine. Most important: watch these legislature votes. Repubs (with outside money) are trying to pick off about 4-5 State Senate seats. If LePage is coupled with a Repuke legislature, this state will be gutted.
