Who Does LePage Have Left? |
|
The state workers and retirees hate him. The teachers and retirees hate him. All the private unions now know he's also going after them and they hate him. He fucked over Millonocket (sp.?)-which will kill those towns (a governor is supposed to sit parties down and see if something can be worked out). Last nights news reported on his speaking to the fishermen in Rockland where it was revealed he is going to let those who do the "net" dragging thing to sell the lobsters they scoop up which presently is illegal and the lobster men told the news channel that it was a "slap across the face to the lobstermen"(god, they are one group you really don't want to fuck with). Unfortunately, a lot of these blue collar guys (and some teachers---hubby retired teacher)have voted republican and now are in revolt. Now they know who is out to kill them and they aren't happy. The repukes that got in this time are going to be "gone with the wind" in two years. LePage literally has no support anymore---and his ignorant mouth doesn't help.

1. BUT, we and our Dem leaders need to DEFINE THE ISSUES and KEEP UP THE PRESSURE. |

He said it was all about "jobs jobs jobs." What has he done? Gutting the environment. Putting chemicals back in sippy cups. Telling the NAACP to kiss his butt. Saying the chemicals will just cause women to grow little beards. Gutting reproductive choice laws. Putting an unqualified right winger from the Maine Heritage Policy Center as head of the Dept. of Ed. Gutting our clean elections law. Gutting our voting rights traditions. Attacking unions with his "right to work" law. What does any of this have to do with creating jobs? As long as our party and legislative leaders take clear stands and define the issues and form and control the message, and if our rank and file keep up the pressure with constant OP EDS and letters to the editor, and with rallies, we will crush these bastards in 2012. But messaging is EVERYTHING.

2. The Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce loves him |
|
Businesses that want to rape the environment are dreamy about him.
Essentially I think his support at the moment is limited to teabaggers who sit at home all day on their VA or disability benefits and post how much they love him on the comment sections of local news sources. The richest of the rich will be happy too, since we apparently have tax cuts for them coming down the pike under the guise of "stimulus for jobs."
