Commissioner Mayhew said bad past assumptions carried forward and faulty methodologies are making it tough, perhaps impossible, to offer accurate financial predictions. I would like to see the Commissioner or Governor LePage do a better job of explaining in public the specifics of those assumptions and methodologies. Absent that I think the LePage administration risks being perceived as adopting a "Blame Bush"-style of governing at DHHS.

1. here's the reason I put it here |

to say they are slow is not entirely true,to say they are the last to know form their elected officials is closer to fact. I printed this on nov.13, they printed theirs on nov. 21st. . their was another shortfall in the health dept. I was looking for a press release we had in the past two weeks or so from health and human services but can't find it. It said clients used more than was budgeted for (I think it was in the millions of dollars) and the solution was =don't worry be happy, don't worry be happy we will make a photo opt and spread the bull =next week it will be sumthin else ayhuh!

It will be difficult to cut welfare when this administration is already over budget by $70,000,000. They can't blame this on the prior administration, they own it lock stock and barrel. I have been waiting to see the post on how irresponsible this mismanagement is, but must have missed it. So, cut education at the State level (again) and let the local property tax make it up.
this has been the republican party's agenda for the past 90 years! the only change is the package it's wrapped in and the kook delivering it! Of course this bill will eventually be paid (probably by borrowing) while they continue to mismanage and keep their donors coffers running over with your hard earned tax monies! sameo sameo!just another clown in charge!

What good is a budget when departments overspend what they have been given to operate their department. And, what about the legislators who are responsible for oversight? The whole lot should be fired and anyone who comes to their defense should be tried as co conspirators. For once I agree with this person; shall we start with charley webster and work our way up to the gov. you see the buck stops at the top. I don't think that is what he had in mind but that is where the blame goes! to the money man(planner of budgets etc and the guy who is on top who approved them. the fact is they cut without knowledge) so using your reasoning get the recall papers out i'll sign them!
