who is going to DC on the 24th |
|
I'm from Baltimore and I was planning on going down by the train, because I don't have a car, but I'm a little nervous, as I don't think I've ever gone by this method before, and I have really bad direction sense, and I am sure I will get lost. Are other people in the area going? Does anyone want to meetup here to go down on the train together? Or, does anyone know of any buses going down that I could hitch a ride on?

1. We are going but leaving Friday |

and staying with people there. They train isn't that bad and you have more service in Baltimore than we do. (One train in the morning to DC, one back at night from DC.) The train station is close enough that there are good signs. Also if you are as bad at directions as I am, start pulling up maps of DC now. I also write down directions, even for walking. The light-rail was pretty easy for the Pro choice march, and that was my first time on a subway. There will also be plenty of people that will gladly help you out once there.

I didn't realize that the Marc doesn't run on weekends....that's dumb. Now I have to refigure all my plans. Anyone have any good ideas?

6. AmTrak runs on weekends |
|
Check out their schedule. Union Station is a great location. Just get off the train and keep walking straight ahead out of the building. When you get outside you can see the Capitol right in front of you a few blocks away. Go around it to the right and you can walk up the Mall (or Pennsylavania or Constitution).

7. I'm probably spending the weekend with a friend of mine in DC |
|
However, I would like to hook up with DU'ers at the pre-arranged Friday and Saturday night get-togethers. Does anyone have the link with that info?

9. Red Line to Farragut North is closest to White House |
|
If you can get a ride with someone, I would recommend parking at the Takoma Park Metro station, which is also on the red line. I'll be there also, with friends.
