Is there something I don't understand about radio? |
|
This may sound like a stupid question, but I listen to air-america 1260 quite often while driving around DC, but for some reason there's a section on the DC beltway between Old Georgetown Rd and River Rd where it will switch over to conservative talk 630 WMAL for about 5mins (to 30 mins depending on traffic). The conservative talk station comes in clear as a bell at 1260 on the dial (Ok, the radios don't have dials anymore, but you get the drift), and I've been stuck listening to Rush many a time because of it..*cry*
Is there something weird with radio signals that causes the 630am signal to double up it's number to play on 1260am? I guess I'm just pissed that conservatives are interrupting my librul listening experience... :)

1. That spot is near MAL's transmitter tower. |
|
Look beyond the outerloop and you should see the towers.
It drowns out any station's signal, and 1260's signal is among the weakest to start with.

2. You're right - I live in Severn, and I have a heck of a time trying to |
|
hear the shows through all the static. Do you think there is any chance of bumping up the signal?

3. I've had that happen to me too! |

As someone else said, WMAL has a transmitter in the area. It's really wierd listening to Ed Schultz or Al Franken fade in and out with Rush Limbaugh . At least Ed or Al wins the battle every time!!!
