Any fans of "The Wire" here? |
|
I ask because of the Baltimore-based story, shot on location, is now in it's fourth season. And, it is the best series HBO has ever made. Truly great television, very hard-hitting in it's look at the plight of inner-city Baltimore. Wonderful acting and writing.
In last night's episode, the newly-elected Democratic and white Mayor of Baltimore Carcetti is left cooling his heels with his advisor, waiting to see the Republican Governor, out on a landing for hours. He and his advisor finally give up, and are leaving the state building, when they are stopped by a security guard who informs them that the Governor will now see them. The "actor" playing the security guard is ..... Robert Erhlich. A funny private joke that people not from this area will ever get.
This was clearly filmed long before the election, and it is a second joke that the real Mayor of Baltimore beat Erhlich in the election.

I watched the entire 1st season. I'm going to rent season 2 this weekend and watch it. Then season 3. I'll have to wait for 4 on DVD.
This may sound kind of sick, but I've always had this obsession with getting an inside look at ubran drug trade and life inside 'the projects'.

2. The fourth season focuses on the schools |
|
showing the plight of students and teachers in the inner city.
Also, the mayoral race and city politics. If you like political stories, you will like this season.
