Bravo to the 83 Maryland Democrats in the Legislature for their stand against the war escalation!

Buried in the Washington Post's Metro section today was an item in the Maryland Notebook column reporting that 83 Democratic lawmakers signed and sent a letter to Maryland's delegation in Congress opposing the Misadministration's planned troop escalation in Iraq.

"It is a scandal to spend hundreds of billions of dollars prolonging a reckless and futile war," the letter stated.

The letter was written by Sen. Jamie Raskin (D-Montgomery) and Sen. Paul G. Pinsky (D - Prince Georges). Republicans refused to sign. The senators chose to send a letter rather than a resolution, so that it would reach the congressional delegation in time for this week's debate on the issue.
