I can hardly wait to feel the rumble of highway traffic and breathe all the pollutants and particulates that the Inter County Connector will bring. It's going to be hard pulling out of my neighborhood onto Shady Grove Road and Mid-County Highway because of the increased traffic the ICC will dump on local roads.
According to the Nov. 9 Washington Post, a federal judge in Greenbelt yesterday ruled against environmentalists seeking to stop the ICC. Unless they appeal, the ICC construction will move forward.
They're already cutting down trees in my Derwood, MD community. Houses in the right-of-way have been vacated in preparation for demolition. Bulldozers have made construction access ways off Redland Road. I feel sorry for all the little wild critters that live in these fields and wooded areas.
All this destruction just so rich people can pay their $7 tolls to zip from Route 370 to I-95 and BWI.

I'm not sure where all the ramps are going to be, but it will be anywhere from a half mile to a mile. How about you?

Here's a link to an ICC map. It can be enlarged to zoom in on details. http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/metro/graphics/icc_071205.pdfI just checked and found our house is about 1/4 mile from the ICC.

5. I spoke with my ex just today ....... |
|
.... her house will be 600 feet from the road. She backs to park land with an active natural trout stream. Even the Audubon Society couldn't save it. Erlich did an end run and agreed to elevate the roadway over the park .... which now puts it on eye level for her. She's decided to sell her house.

I'm close to the Middlebrook exit for 270 so I won't be near it directly. I'm not sure if it will wind up being more traffic out in Germantown. I work in Frederick so I'm planning on moving next year since MARC only goes the opposite direction that I commute leaving driving the only option. Glad to be going away from it.

public transportation into DC. We have to drive 10-15 miles to get to either the metro or the MARC stations.
