Matt Damon should run against Scott Brown

I don't know if he'd do it, but I think he'd have a good shot at winning. He'd get the votes of the people who voted for Scott Brown because he's handsome (and Brown got a lot of votes because of that) and he'd clean up in the Boston area, where in places like Southie, East Boston, and Revere Brown is surprisingly popular. He is also very well spoken, has excellent liberal credentials, and great name recognition.

1. I think we would like to have him, but I'm sure he enjoys

acting and directing and writing and producing multi-milllion dollar box office movies more.

There's also the little item of salary. Although the salary of a Senator is nothing to sneeze at, I'm sure Matt Damon's annual earnings are well north of that salary, probably 4 to 20 times that in a good year.

Giving up a most successful career in film production/acting/writing/directing in the prime of his life for six years, probably NOT a good move for him now.

Also, I don't think his official state residence is Massachusetts, nor has it been for the last 10+ years, since Good Will Hunting came out in about 98.

2. it's not always about money

I don't know much about Matt Damon, but once someone has enough money to live comfortably for the rest of their life, they may choose to do something they feel more passionate about, or feel is more important, or that gets them things money can't buy (power, a different kind of prestige), or they may want to do something new/exciting, whatever... there are all kinds of reasons someone could choose to do something even if it means making less money

3. True that money means little to Matt now. But his passions are

clear, in his writing, directing, acting, producing films!

He's not about to want to spend six years or more of his life listening to the likes of Mitch McConnel or
Rand Paul in stuffy committee meetings or on the Senate floor.

Nor is running for the U.S. Senate something you do without raising a LOT of MONEY! Every U.S. Senator has to raise lots and lots of money to campaign and stay in office. So, yes, it's NOT about his personal fortune, but it's about what he knows he can do best, and what he does quite well at and loves doing.

I'm sure he'd rather spend his time at his California home, or his Hawaiian home, or on site in Europe while making films. And I don't blame him one bit.
