1. I used to listen to Charles Laquidara’s Big Mattress show |
|
In the early '80s while working at a construction site north of Baton Rouge with other Bostonians, I phoned Charles and asked him if he would send me cassette tapes of some of his shows, since we obviously could not get BCN on the radio in Louisiana.
He sent me 10 cassettes (free) that I would play on my car radio the week that I had car pool duty. My car pool-ees were shocked and delighted to no end when I popped the first tape in, and thereafter for awhile couldn't wait for the week I drove for the car pool to hear more. The big mattress show skits were hilarious back in the late 70s/early 80s.

2. What a great story, Submariner! |

Charles (and, of course, Duane) was the best. I used to install carpets in the 70's and early 80's. We used to stop work for 10 minutes for the Mishegas Question with Charles and Matty Segal.
