Nader seeks spot on Mass. ballot
10,000 signatures needed by Aug. 3
By Kevin Joy, Globe Correspondent | May 27, 2004

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader announced his intention yesterday to get on the ballot in Massachusetts, which will require his campaign to collect 10,000 signatures on nominating petitions by Aug. 3.

Nader, appearing first at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and then Suffolk University in Boston, warned presumptive Democratic nominee John F. Kerry against delaying acceptance of his nomination, a trial balloon that the Massachusetts senator dropped later in the afternoon. Before 50 supporters at Suffolk, Nader said that the plan would result in an event for Democrats in Boston that is ''not a convention under the terms of the law that gets him $15 million in subsidies" from the federal government for a nominating convention.

Calling for Kerry to follow through with his promise to ''end corporate welfare as we know it," Nader stressed the importance of ending federal policies that promote ''unconscionable and unsupportable subsidies, handouts, and giveaways to mining and drug companies."

To respond to increasing domestic disapproval of the war, Kerry must have a clear exit strategy from Iraq, Nader said.

2. me too
We already have The Herald and Boston talk radio working against Kerry in his home state with their lies. I don't need Nader's Giant Ego here, too. He's a liar and I lost all respect for him.

4. Isn't that guy ever going to sit down and shut up!
Our country is teetering on the brink of ruin, and this asshole is still stirring up shit solely for the benefit of his own ego. It's bad enough we've got that carpetbagger Mitt dredging up repugs to run for state offices to try to bring our state down to the level of so many other repuke hellholes; now we've got Ralph rearing his ugly head. Stay the fuck out of our state, Ralph!

5. It could be worse
At least there is little chance that Kerry will lose Massachusettes. I rather him in a sold Kerry state (or a solid Bush state like TX) rather then campigning in a swing state like PA or FL.
