However, according to some...it was poor officiating and an MSU player having the flu. Oh, and a young team playing against experienced seniors. Has nothing to do with Michigan playing a better game. And, even though the best player had the flu, State is NOT a one-man team. It was the officiating. Because even your young team could not possibly have been intimidated by the crowd noise at Crisler. It's not much on its best day and it's also spring break. And I speak as a die-hard Michigan fan and alumna!
State fans, you can find some good cheese for your whine at Dusty's in Okemos.
I'm glad that officiating is NEVER an issue at Breslin.

5. Could Drew Sharp's column have BEEN more obnoxious? |
|
Why don't they just revoke the degree he supposedly has from Michigan and give him an honorary one from State. Then he, and we, will be happy.

7. Well, you have to be a Michigan fan to dislike it |
|
Which I heartily do. It's hard to understand why a sportswriter with a degree from Michigan seems to loathe them as much as he does. It doesn't matter what the sport is or whether we win or lose, he doesn't like it. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070228/COL08/702280435/1048/SPORTS

He's never written one nice word about Michigan that I've ever read. OTOH, he would happily dance through a daffodil patch swinging hands with Tom Izzo, if he hasn't already.

And slobbers over MSU no matter what. That's not arrogant; it's biased.

12. Izzo let them win by keeping Neitzel out so much |
|
He doesn't want Amaker to lose his job.
Just kidding. :P
Neitzel was sick, but he still played enough and Michigan still won. It had to be nice to see your coach finally show a pulse. Good for him for getting on Courtney Sims the way he did late in that game when State made their last run.
Now you either need a win over OSU or semifinals of the Big Ten tournament. The MSU and Indiana wins at home are nice, but you need one like the one we got against Wisconsin last week to get an at-large bid.

I wish Amaker had come alive earlier -- like two or three seasons ago.

He really should show a little more energy. In the first Indiana game, and in the Georgetown game, I was screaming for him to call time outs when the other teams went on big runs. I don't think a team that's behind should have any timeouts left at the end of the half.

15. Sparties aren't a tournament lock either |
|
The NCAA tourney is certainly not a lock for the Spartans, either. They've already demonstrated that they can't win on the road, and their final game of the big 10 season is at Wisconsin, and thus, they'll probably end up 8-8 in the conference. They've got to win a few in the conference tournament, as does U-M.

Wins over Texas (neutral site), BYU (Palace), Wisconsin, Indiana, toughest Big Ten Schedule. Sparty's dance card is punched.
And there are only three tournament games max. A bad loss in the first tournament game, or an injury to Neitzel are the only ways they won't be in.
On Edit: There could be four games if they're seeded 6-11. But 4 wins would mean they would have to win the championship. MSU only needs one win if they're seeded 6-11, U-M probably 2 wins.

I hope you're right. Their road record is troubling, as are the blowout losses to Purdue and Indiana. They need to develop more consistency on offense (6th in the conference in scoring offense at just over 60 ppg) to match their incredible defense.
If anything sealed it for MSU, it was the fantastic win over Wisconsin.
