Incredible: Channel 4 actually had some news other than Tara Grant tonight |
|
First time in what, four or five days? Don't get me wrong; the murder was grisly and horrible and I suspected the husband from the first. But the local media has gone insane over this. I swear, I'm checking my Free Press to see if I'm actually subscribing to the Enquirer.
Would we have seen this coverage had Tara Grant not been white, middle class, and pretty? Just asking.

2. I cannot believe how ridiculous the media is about this |
|
From the helicopters following the sheriff's caravan from the moment it got off of 1-69 while transporting the husband back to Macomb County to the gleeful look in many of the reporters' eyes as they report the grisly details.
I feel so badly for the victim's family and the children. They were in the home when he killed her, too. Sick bastard.
I don't think I'll ever be able to go to Stony Creek Metro Park again.

3. You're right, she fits "the profile" |
|
I forgot the "middle class" part. I just thought "white, young, good-looking gal". That's worth quite a few front-page stories.
This story continues today with more searching through the park. We'll hear about every little fact uncovered.
If she was older and non-white, it would probably have been a one-day story on page three.
It's all about TV ratings and newspaper sales.

4. I've been asking that question since day one |
|
I, too, knew he was guilty from the outset -- I knew it couldn't end well. His story just never made any sense. I also agree that the media has gone absolutely crazy -- four and five solid pages a day in the papers. Enough already! I don't see how he can get a fair trial anywhere in the state. It's a pretty open and shut case and I hope he doesn't walk on some technicality because of all the publicity.
