As soon as I heard the story, I wondered if the truck was from Canada. I'm in Seattle, and we have a huge problem with trucks from British Columbia that come blasting down I-5. I have to think that when Clinton raised the speed limits back in the 1990s (which I disagreed with, for safety and environmental reasons) that this was done in connection with NAFTA. The BC truck companies, as far as I know, do not pay anything towards maintenance of the roads in Washington State. I don't know what the case is in Michigan, but this is just another instance where free trade is harming our quality of life.
