Gordon Trowbridge / Detroit News Washington Bureau
Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Lt. Gov. John Cherry have endorsed Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
"Hillary Clinton's proposals and track record are evidence that she is clearly the candidate best prepared to lead the nation and be a champion for Michigan," the two said in a prepared statement released this afternoon making what had been a widely expected announcement.
The two Democrats will cite Clinton's advocacy for manufacturing jobs and tougher enforcement of trade rules, her support of universal healthcare and her backing for increased production of alternative fuels in the endorsement announcement, which is expected to go out later this afternoon.
Granholm had said on Oct. 10 that she would make an endorsement this week, and strongly hinted that Clinton would be her choice.
