Michigan Gore Supporters: Vote on the Uncommitted line in the primary? |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-29-07 08:59 AM by SharonRB
From Doug Kelley, one of the co-leaders of the Michigan Draft Gore movement:
"With an increasing possibility that NO candidate will win the nomination on the first ballot (in the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August), the possibility of the delegates turning to Gore may also be increasing. Gore supporters here in Michigan will be well advised to vote on the "Uncommitted" line, on the January 15 Democratic primary ballot. In each Congressional District in which 15% or more of voters vote "Uncommitted," one or more uncommitted delegates will be chosen (in the Spring) to go to the Dem National Convention. So . . . all is NOT lost, from a Draft Gore point of view!"
(Emphasis added.)
Now I don't know whether to vote for Dodd or Uncommitted!

1. Can we really do that? |
|
Will it count? If so, then I guess I'll write in Gore but isn't it sad that it has to come to this? Why should it be so hard to have my vote count?

2. It's not really a write-in for Gore |
|
He has to say that he'll accept write-ins, from what I understand. In order to get uncommitted delegates sent to the convention, 15% of the voters in a district have to write in uncommitted, not a write in for a particular candidate.
Don't know if it will work, but the goal is to get uncommitted delegates at the convention if our delegates get seated at all.
