So, now that the national media has another reason to put down our area of the world, I have decided that it is time for Ford to either sell the team, or take it to some small market where a pathetic, loosing team doesn’t really matter.
The Lions have sucked nearly my entire natural life, and the team has been owned by the Ford family for almost the entire time. If the Lions are to remain here, nothing will change until there is a change of ownership. I don’t really care if at 10 tomorrow morning, Ford hands Marinelli a cigar, then shows him the door. They will just bring in another flunky to coach the team. Ford has already shown his stripe by keeping some of the front office intact anyway.
I got interested in the Lions for the first time in years when they drafted Drew Stanton. The last good coach he had was in high school. I know: I went to that school. OK, he got injured, but every time they played him, good stuff happened. I thought he, like Gibson was for the Tigers, the great local spark.
As a general rule, the Lions management has never had a good eye for talent. Marinelli was fond of taking the blame, and saying that the players tried hard. But when you only have 3-4 players on the squad with any talent at all, trying hard doesn’t mean squat!
I could go on and on, but I won’t. The fact is that like the reign of Bush 2, doo-doo starts at the top and rolls downhill. I just hate to see the rest of the country given another reason to laugh at Michigan.

Totally off topic, but Nancy will be subbing for Lionel on Air America tomorrow through Wednesday from 9-12 a.m. You can stream the show at www.airamerica.com since we don't get it here. You may have gotten the e-mail I sent out from her web site, but I'm not sure, so I know you'd want to know. She'd love more callers than she had when she subbed last week. You can call in at 866-303-2270.
Hope you're have a good holiday season.
I'm going to go post a thread now.

Thanks for the heads up. I am off all week, so I will definately have a minute to call in. This does my heart good.
Is this a sign we might see/hear more of the Nancemeister on the airwaves?

5. W.C. Ford has owned the Lions for over 40 years ... and has the worst ownership record |
|
... in the history of the NFL. He's made fools of football fans in Detroit for four decades, charging major league rates and giving them Bush league teams. The Lions are a joke - the doormat of the NFL. When they get a marquee player, they burn him out after only a few seasons with abysmal backup and support. Or they sell him.

They had to move to a significantly smalled stadium already because the blackouts and low attendance were almost crushing them. Now they can't get a quarter less people to come downtown to see the games. They are the worst team ever and it isn't long before they disband the team. It has to be done. Either now at a loss or later at a much greater loss.
