The suppliers are based in Changchun, China's "Motor City," which plans to open nine more offices in the U.S. Michigan officials hope the office marks a first step that will be followed by engineering, research and even manufacturing investments in the state. One supplier from the region, Fawer Automotive Parts Co. Ltd. , has a sales office in Metro Detroit.
