Stupak's district will NEVER elect a representative that's more liberal than Bart. Nominating a more liberal Democrat is a GUARANTEE that his seat will be taken over by a Republican. I'd HATE to see that happen, especially since the district's voters are prone to send the same person to Congress year after year and decade after decade. Losing that seat to the Retardicans would be a disaster.

I don't mind having a pro-life Dem in that seat. What I do mind is having an anti-choice Dem like we have now. I'd be just as happy to see one of his more moderate friends kick his ass than anybody else.
Besides, he's becoming one hell of a liability. He's aiming to take Pelosi to the canvas from what I can tell.

2. Stupak's connection with the C Street "Family," crazies is worrisome.. |
|
Still, check out what is important... Go to his COngressional voting records.. ..ADA gives him a 90% plus rating.. AFL CIO- 90% plus also.. Cato's view of his trade votes.. Under 40%.. We could do far worse , in spite of his dark side.. . Still, the U.P. a Republican area... It is a competitive district.?

Stupak is the major health care reform obstacle in the House right now. He's leading the "de factor abortion prohibition" clause. I would rather have a Republican with a conscience than a Dem who doesn't have one. (or at least, has a deranged one)

5. Unless Stupak is put under a bridle, there may not be any health care reform. |

6. Bart is the organizer... without him, I don't think the Blue Dogs would stand up against us. |

7. I have family in Bart's district |
|
who are active in local Democratic politics.
I have it on good authority that if a candidate is willing to step into the ring that several local county leaders will work to secure the necessary signatures by the deadline.
One county in particular has told the Stupak campaign not to ask him for help this year - the specifics will be available soon - I believe they are going to issue a press release and I don't want to step on their message.
So, as of now, there isn't a primary challenger, but the apparatus to support on is being built as we speak. They just need someone to step up.
