I consider myself a loyal Democrat. I voted for Rick Snyder.

Well, I held my nose and voted in the Republican primary only because I was pretty confident Virg would win, and there wasn't much local action on my ballot. Ew, ew, ew!

I wanted, more than anything, to see that piece of garbage Cox go down to defeat.

And, it felt sooooo good to see.

Plus, I figured if Right To Life of Michigan was paying for ads to trash Snyder, he couldn't be the worst possible choice of the lot.

Now, it's time to get out there and get Virg elected Gov!

1. I was also glad to see Cox get trounced

but I voted Dem anyway. My daughter was on the ballot (running for precinct delegate) and I couldn't not vote for her. :)

Money can't completely make up for a lame candidate who has nothing to say except "cut taxes." The negative ads that will come out against Snyder will do more damage than any negative ads that will be directed at Bernero.

I mean, Snyder won by 18, but even Cox or Hoekstra (much more conservative!) would have won by several points too.

And Cox and Hoekstra are even more right-wing than Snyder.

There were Dems who voted for Snyder who would never have voted for Cox or Hoekstra. I think winding up with Snyder as the R candidate hurt Virg. Of course, if getting a Republican was inevitable, I'd rather it was Snyder than either of the others.

9. I'm the OP

I have very mixed emotions about this. Relief that a far right wingnut wasn't elected, and also the feeling that perhaps we could have done better against someone more extreme and with less $$$ and less popular appeal. Guilt sums it up best.

It's hard to know what the right thing is at times. Life is a gamble far too often.

Honestly, I don't think anyone short of a "superstar" of the caliber of Bill Clinton could have been elected Gov. of Michigan this year as a Democrat, and I don't know who in the state that would have been.

Bad year all around, and all we can do is work to make the future better.

10. My wife and I did the same in the primary, we didn't want Hoekstra the life long politician

to win the nomination.
