Is anyone else reading the book about Rainbow Farm?

I never went there or anything, but I had family living in Elkhart and aquaintances in Edwardsburg who went to festivals at the farm.

I'm about halfway throught the book, but it is kind of apparant that the shoot-out could have been avoided by both sides.

story, but I think I got distracted by 9/11 or something...

Whatever happened to the kid?
Who has custody of him?
There was some talk of him becoming a ward
of the state, so that the land could be
taken without a fight.

Does the book address this?

2. The kid was adopted by his mother's parents

The author said he was 16 when the book was written, so he will be an adult soon. He inherited all the proceeds from the sale of the farm, after debts were paid-the families of both men made sure that the government did not confiscate the land, that it was sold for the kid's benefit.

He has no contact with any of the people from the farm at this point-the family wanted him to be able to start over, which is understandable.

Both men's families are suing over the shootings-I don't know if there has been any resolution over it yet. The lawyers brought in forensic experts that worked on the Ruby Ridge case, who discovered that the ballistics didn't match up in Rollie's shooting, and he was missing his testicles(?). The prosecutor involved in pushing the case is not the prosecutor in Cass County anymore.

The end of the book broke my heart, when reading about the shooting of Rollie. Tom was the dangerous one, who shot at the police helicopter. The whole thing could have been handled better from the get-go.
