The point of lending money to the automobile companies would be to help them get through the recession. It's supposed to be a "temporary fix" until consumers have more confidence and will buy more cars.
Klobuchar and Coleman both voted for the Wall Street bailout. The CEOs of the Wall Street firms didn't have to testify to Congress before the bill was passed to prove that they have good business plans.
