Submitted by christinefrank on Tue, 12/09/2008 - 08:02. in The Next 3CTC Environmental Forum Start: 12/15/2008 - 19:00 End: 12/15/2008 - 21:00 For those fearful of being trampled to death in the seasonal shopping frenzy, a safe haven is being offered along with the opportunity to enjoy a bit of irreverent fun with a free holiday screening of WHAT WOULD JESUS BUY? THE MOVIE THAT SANTA DOESN'T WANT YOU TO SEE! This docu-comedy stars Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Gospel Choir. The film is produced by Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) and directed by Rob Van Alkemade. It follows Reverend Billy and his choir as they go on a cross-cuntry mission to save Chirstmas from the Shopocalypse: The end of humankind from consumerism, over-consumption and the fires of eternal debt. Viewers will be interested to know that some scenes were shot at our very own Mall of America. So drop out of the crass commercialization of the holidays and drop in for some entertaining satire.
The screening will take place on Monday, December 15 at 7:00 PM at Mayday Books, 301 Cedar Avenue South, West Bank, Minneapolis. Sponsored by the Climate Crisis Coalition of the Twin Cities (3CTC), the event is free and open to the public. The Clean-Energy Vigil to Cool Down the Planet takes place out on the plaza at 5:00 PM. Bundle up! The 3CTC Business Meeting is at 6:00 PM. All are welcome.
