Klobuchar joining Blue Dog Senate Group?

I called the senator's office to express my displeasure and I hope some of the rest of you will also call.

2. I emailed her and expressed that I and my husband and several friends will never

vote for her again and want her out because of joining the Blue Dog Dems. Strong words but am really sick at the stupidity of some of our Democrats.

7. I went with your view

I sent an email and said I would resign any office I hold in the DFL and actively work against her receiving the endorsement again and, if she receives, work for any actual DFLer who runs against her in the primary. I also vowed to vote third party if she goes over to the Blue Dogs and is the candidate in 2012.

There is no point in electing Democrats who vote like Republicans. I think the time is coming when the Farmer-Laborites will have to ask for a divorce.

4. I will still support her

She did so well against Mark Kennedy and if she stays moderate she should have a easy re-election and we can keep the seat. I have met her face to face once and she should keep her seat. She will not take any radically conservative positions, but she represents most Minnesotans and the MN GOP will have a hard time finding anyone that could win against her.

5. This doesn't really surprise me

she'll just assume that the Farmer-Labor wing of the DFL will have no where else to go. Remember her first vote on FISA? Though, she did prove educable on that issue as her vote did change after we got after her.

During her campaign, I heard her dad give a couple speeches when he was standing in for her at an event. I wondered if her campaign knew what he was saying because, in my opinion, we were running the wrong Klobuchar. I can't believe he won't give her an earful if she goes over to the Blue Dogs.

8. She might as well Be a Blue Dog, cause she sure acts like them

I hope she joins them, it will make it easier for a true MN Progressive DFL candidate run against her and represent the true values of this state.

People like Kennedy, Bachman, Pawlenty, and especially Kline and Coleman are not what Conservative Values of MN. They are Conservative values of Corporate interests.. They are conservative values of Neo-Cons and of Good ol (corrupt) Boys.

I was not impressed by Klobuchar when she was running for office, nor have I been since and she has been far more republican than I would have expected.

I hope there are many progressive leaders who are seriously thinking of challenging Klobuchar.

9. The problem with any challenge to her

is that she has the whole establishment with her.

I supported Ford Bell in his run against her for endorsement in 2006. I was at a State Central Committee meeting eighter right before or right after the caucuses, but well before the state convention. and it was disgusting how the powers that be were trying to shut Bell out even at that point. Klobuchar had the DSCC's backing and even at the point we were expected to accept her endorsement as a done deal. And, her campaign workers were outright hostile to anyone who wasn't supporting her - I've never seen anything like that during an endorsement contest. Much to his credit, Bell didn't take it lying down and made it clear to the group that he was stil in the race. Actually it was at that meeting that I decided to support him.

I still think Ford Bell would have been the better choice.

10. You also have to think beyond the primary to the general election

Klobuchar is well respected by her moderate stances. She gets many outstate votes because of them. The Republicans will have a hard time finding someone to beat her. Yet if a new person comes through the DFL Primary, the Republicans will have a much better shot at winning the general election based on outstate voters.

12. Moderate if one thing, Blue Dog is another

and I am done voting for Democrats who vote like Republicans. I also resent the DSCC coming in here and picking our candidate and the state DFL going along with it. If it had been left to the DSCC and the other party powers, Wellstone would never have been the candidate.

Uhm no. No one respects anyone for their supposed 'moderate stance.'

The republicans will paint her as a liberal next election cycle anyhow and the only difference is that we will not have an actual progressive-liberal democrat in office.

'Moderate' doesnt mean anything. It is a category without a definition and anyone can lay claim to it. One more election cycle and 'moderate' will become a dirty word as it will be associated with the status quo in politics.

And you are correct, anyone with a (D) behind their name will be branded an "ultra-liberal-socialist" etc... :crazy: . Yet the electorate is intelligent enough, even more so in these down times they will look at Amy's real voting record, see she is a bit to the left but not enough to turn them off. Amy also has the power of incumbency, which a newcomer from the primary would not have, at that point you have a much higher risk of a Republican taking the office. Remember the MN GOP of today is not Arne Carlson's GOP.

in 2006.

The SD60 delegates supporting Steve Kelley browbeat my girlfriend and were overly nasty to her for supporting Mike Hatch at the State Convention in 2006.

I was at that convention too and I witnessed most of the aggressive posturing aimed at Lourey supporters. I witnessed a little old lady getting bullied by a Hatch person pretty thoroughly. Kelley got as fair a deal as he should have expected considering that his policy platform really was at best marginally different than Hatch.

We had a choice to put up an excellent liberal democrat into the office of governor and the 'old boys' of the DFL picked the worst most milquetoast, inoffensive, chamber of commerce friendly, candidate that they could lay their mitts on.
