H.F. No. 111: A bill for an act relating to the State Board of Investment; requiring divestment from certain investments relating to Iran ; requiring a report; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 11A.
Was read the third time and placed on its final passage.
The question was taken on the passage of the bill.
51ST DAY] MONDAY, MAY 11, 2009 4489
The roll was called, and there were yeas 50 and nays 16, as follows:
Those who voted in the negative were:
Berglin
Betzold
Carlson
Day
Dille
Foley
Ingebrigtsen
Jungbauer
Kubly
Langseth
Marty
Olson, M.
Senjem
Skoe
Skogen
Vandeveer
So the bill passed and its title was agreed to.
Interesting: Berglin, Day, Betzold, Dille, Foley are all in the Finance Committee. Even though Betzold was the only one who voted No at the Finance Comm meeting, others changed their minds later. Maybe our Action Alerts, emails, phone calls and testimony had an effect, along with postings and other postings on various blogs and websites.

Duration of Part I says 1 hour, 3 minutes
John Marty opposing around 19 minutes, Marty begins opposing the bill.
If there'a a way to edit out the part of this video (minute 19 to 43 something) which carries the Iran Divestment debate and exposes Bonoff and Latz's weak arguments on behalf of AIPAC and provides great points by Marty and Carlson, by making this into a you-tube so that we can then easily insert it into on-line blogs and websites, then we'd have a useful way of educating more people in the public. Unfortunately no one's going to go to the effort of ferreting it out otherwise.
