Lawbreaker Michele Bachmann's paranoia about ACORN is out of control
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jun/17/exclusive-minn-lawmaker-fears-census-abuse/

Michele Bachmann is so fearful that ACORN employees may be picking up part-time work as a census taker next year that she says she's refusing to fill out census forms AS THE LAW REQUIRES. Is it true that we can now pick and choose which laws we obey, or does that apply only to paranoid delusional congresswomen?

From the Washington Times:

Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she's so worried that information from next year's national census will be abused that she will refuse to fill out anything more than the number of people in her household.

In an interview Wednesday morning with The Washington Times "America's Morning News," Mrs. Bachmann, Minnesota Republican, said the questions have become "very intricate, very personal" and she also fears ACORN, the community organizing group that came under fire for its voter registration efforts last year, will be part of the Census Bureau's door-to-door information collection efforts.

"I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home," she said. "We won't be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn't require any information beyond that."

Shelly Lowe, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Census Bureau, said Mrs. Bachmann is "misreading" the law.

The law says anyone over 18 years of age who refuses to answer "any of the questions" on the census is subject to a $100 fine. Knowingly giving a wrong answer is subject to a $500 fine.

The Constitution requires a census be taken every 10 years. Questions range from number of persons in the household and racial information to employment status and whether anyone receives social services such as food stamps.

Mrs. Bachmann said she's worried about the involvement of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, in next year's census.

"They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public," she said. "This is very concerning."

ACORN has applied to help recruit workers to help conduct the census. Republican lawmakers and some public interest groups have expressed concern over their involvement.

ACORN staffers have ben indicted in several states on charges of voter registration fraud stemming from the organization's efforts to register voters last year.

Mrs. Bachmann, who is in her second term in the House, has become a lightning rod for criticism from Democrats and liberal talk show hosts for her unapologetic conservative views.

She said she considers that "a badge of honor."

"It's clear when a person speaks out against those policies they become a target, and that should be concerning to everyone," she said.

2. She's crazy, but also totally in line with the Republicanite propaganda machine
Right-wing media have taught wingnuts to reflexively foam at the mouth every time someone says the word "ACORN." Not one wingnut in a hundred (and that may be optimistic) could tell you about the history or purpose of ACORN, just as they couldn't define "socialism" correctly if their life depended on it. They've just been taught that socialism and ACORN are eeee-villlll.

The more she blabbers on about ACORN, the more the talk radio crowd thinks of her as their last line of defense against this insidious organization that ... well, they couldn't tell you what ACORN actually does... but it's definitely something bad.

Michelle Bachmann Gets A Little Crazy Over Census
Posted on June 18, 2009

There are times to be concerned about the ultra-progressive agenda of Obama and the Donkeys, and times to take a chill pill. I do believe that, in this case, Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) has gone a bit overboard.

4. Stop the ACLU thinks Bachmann is wacky?.... that's a hoot...
http://atheism.about.com/b/2006/07/07/nedd-kareiva-stop-the-aclu-encourage-christians-to-harass-jews.htm

Stop the ACLU Coalition, a "coalition" that appears to consist of no one but Nedd Kareiva, has created what he calls the "Expose the ACLU Plaintiff" project - something which should probably be more accurately named "Harass and Intimidate the ACLU Plaintiff" project. Nedd Kareiva is starting with a Jewish family chased out of a Delaware school district for challenging school board prayers.

5. Stop the ACLU?
To paraphrase Michael Douglas in "The American President"

Now this is an organization whose sole purpose is to defend the Bill of Rights, so it naturally begs the question, why would anyone choose to reject upholding the constitution?
